Patrick, the principal at Backwell Dental Care, is a highly trained cosmetic and general dentist with many years experience. His extensive knowledge and advanced training allow him to practice the most delicate and effective cosmetic procedures available today. Patrick’s main interests lie in making real and lasting improvements to his patients’ smiles. He is trained in Straumann and Osteo ti implant systems and has been awarded a Diploma in Implant Dentistry by the University of Bristol, Invisalign Orthodontics, Facial Aesthetics, Porcelain Veneers and the latest Tooth Whitening systems. Patrick trained at Guy’s and won the Newland Pedley prize for excellence in operative dentistry, general dentistry and prosthetics. Any spare time is spent with his family, running, kitesurfing, mountain biking and playing tennis.

Paul qualified as a dental technician making precision crowns and bridges before becoming a dentist. He received the LS Farrar scholarship for 2 years while at dental school. Paul is the postgraduate IT tutor for the South West and works part-time at the Bristol Dental Hospital. He has also worked with the Eastman Dental Institute and the Royal College of Surgeons of England developing postgraduate educational material for dentists. Paul specialises in cosmetic dentistry and all-round family care. He has been a member of the team since 1998. Paul likes to spend his time computer programming and being with his family.

Chris graduated from Bristol Dental Hospital with a Merit. He won the Claudius Ash Prize in Dental Techniques, the Ivoclar Vivadent Prize for Technical Excellence and received Letters of Commendation from the Head of the Dental Hospital every year. He has previously worked in two busy dental practices in Bristol and has moved to the area with his young family. Chris provides all round family dental care, while his particular interests are cosmetic dentistry, short term adult orthodontic braces with Six Month Smiles, Invisalign and Secret Smiles, and dental implants. Chris is trained in the use of Implantium and Straumann implant systems. Chris has also completed additional studying and examinations to become a member of the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of England. Chris’ favourite sport is skiing, but he is also a qualified scuba diver and enjoys cycling, running and surfing. Most of his spare time he spends doing DIY and enjoys spending time with his family.

Hannah qualified from Cardiff School of Dentistry having gained a distinction in clinical examination. She is passionate about her work and prides herself on her capability to reassure and alleviate patient’s fears. Hannah has an enthusiastic approach to educating patients about oral health. In her spare time Hannah enjoys keeping fit at the gym.

Katy joined the team in August 2016, she studied dental hygiene at Bristol Dental Hospital, where she was commended on her work with anxious patients and elected course representative. In her free time, Katy enjoys running and is currently training for the Bath half marathon.

Helen is local to the area and joined Backwell Dental Care in July 2006 after graduating from Newcastle University School of Dental Hygiene. Whilst studying Helen was awarded the General Dental Councils Prize for Professionalism as well as an in house merit from the Dean of the Dental school for her clinical work. Helen gets great rewards from working with her patients to improve their knowledge and understanding of periodontal disease.
When not at work Helen enjoys spending quality time with her young family, looking after her horse and playing hockey for Nailsea ladies.

steven harper, osteopath
Steven qualified from The British School of Osteopathy in London in 2003. He has spent the last 5 years in Suffolk working in one of the top osteopathic practices in the country. It was here he developed his superior osteopathic skills and highly advanced pain management techniques. He has gained a vast wealth of experience in treating all aspects of musculoskeletal injuries and dysfunctions in patients ranging from professional sports people to office workers.
As a local boy, Steven attended Backwell School and now wants to bring his highly developed and advanced osteopathic skills to the community in which he grew up. Steven enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as enjoying archery and playing golf in his spare time (although some rounds of golf are more enjoyable than others!!).
