As you enter the practice you will immediately feel at ease and can be sure of a warm, friendly welcome from our team. The stylish, contemporary reception area has comfortable sofas, a plasma TV and as the aromatic candles flicker calm ensues.

We place a lot of emphasis on the initial consultation when we carefully listen and discuss how you feel about your teeth, their general appearance and exactly what you want to achieve and why.

The initial examination always covers the following areas as well as patients individual concerns:

  • Examination of your teeth for signs of dental disease such as tooth decay or gum disease.
  • Oral cancer screen. A full examination is carried out on the soft and hard tissues of the mouth for signs of abnormalities. Unfortunately oral cancer is becoming more common in this country and we have a policy of thoroughly assessing our patients at each examination.
  • Examination of the bite. This includes how the teeth meet together, how they slide over one another and the how the jaw joints are functioning.
  • Any relevant x-rays that may be needed to aid in complete diagnosis.
  • Discussion of findings and the treatment options available. This will include viewing of specific sites using an intra-oral camera and the relevant x-rays. At that time an estimate of treatment costs will be discussed and an idea of the number and length of appointments given.

Appointments can then be made to best suit the individual’s requirements.

If the treatment is of a complex nature, further information such as photographs and study models may also need to be taken at this first visit. It may be then necessary to organise a subsequent appointment to discuss the findings and potential treatment options. Prior to that second visit, a written report may be sent directly to the patient, allowing consideration of the findings.

At all times during this first visit and through subsequent appointments we endeavour to keep you fully informed. We feel that this is of great importance in allowing the you to make a decision on what is the best treatment for them.
